20th Century Fox has an animated King Kong movie in the works, according to Deadline.

The studio has put Christian Magahales and Bob Snow on writing the project, which will put a modern twist on the story from Kong’s perspective.

The Hollywood Reporter broke the news earlier today that Thomas McCarthy, writer-director of “The Visitor” and “Win Win,” will write a supernatural drama titled “Home Movies” for Dreamworks.

According to the report, the movie is about a man who can alter moments from his past through his home videos. With McCarthy on board, this sounds like a winning project.

Trailer of the day:

I love John Carpenter movies. “Halloween,” “The Fog,” “The Thing,” and it doesn’t stop there. I somehow have even found a place in my heart for Carpenter’s bastard children like “Ghosts of Mars” and “Vampires,” which actually remains one of my favorites of his.

So naturally I’m psyched for July 8, when his latest film “The Ward” hits theaters. It stars Amber Heard. Check out the trailer.

    A few quick things…

    1. King Kong animated movie? I’d be up for that. I like King Kong and think that it’s a bit of a shame that Peter Jackson’s remake seems to be forgotten already. It was only, what, six or seven years ago?

    2. Amber Heard was awesome in Drive Angry! Remember that time that Joel Talked Drive Angry and did not like it. I liked Drive Angry, and think that Amber Heard is incredibly talented. While I’ve heard mixed things about The Ward, I’m still sold on it.
