News update: May 30, 2011

There’s currently a teaser trailer going around starring Isaiah Mustafa, aka The Old Spice Guy, as Luke Cage. It’s not a Marvel-sanctioned trailer, and my guess is that this teaser was funded by Mustafa himself as a campaign (like what Kevin Tancharoen did with “Mortal Kombat: Rebirth”) to land the role when Marvel does greenlight the project.

Watch the trailer and let me know what your thoughts are of Isaiah Mustafa as Luke Cage?

New Line, Warner Bros. and MGM have officially announced the titles and release dates for Peter Jackson’s “The Hobbit” movies, according to Coming Soon. The first film, “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,” is scheduled for a Dec. 14, 2012 release, and “The Hobbit: There and Back Again,” is slated for Dec. 13, 2013.

The movies, which take place 60 years before J.R.R. Tolkien’s “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy, are being shot in New Zealand.

Trailer of the day:

I wasn’t crazy about the first “Happy Feet,” and all the “hip” singing in the trailer for the second one isn’t inspiring. However, I’m a penguin lover. Take a look at it and let me know what you think.
