Yay. Summit released a “Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 1” teaser poster. Yup. That’s a teaser poster all right. No news there. Moving on.

Well, Deadline reported that Reeves has signed on to direct “This Dark Endeavor,” based on Kenneth Oppel’s Frankenstein novel “This Dark Endeavor: The Apprenticeship of Victor Frankenstein.” Exciting news, indeed.
The story takes Victor Frankenstein in search of the Elixir of Life after his twin brother, Konrad, falls deathly ill. Jacob Aaron Estes (“Mean Creek”) will write the screenplay.

In the never-ending saga of dueling Snow White projects, Relativity Media pushed up the release of its Untitled Snow White Project from June 29, 2012, to March 16. This, of course, after Universal moved up “Snow White and the Huntsman,” which thankfully has a real title, from Dec. 21, 2012 to June 1 of that year.
While this game of studios attempting to one-up each other is almost amusing, it mostly just takes me back to 1997 when two similar-themed movies were released in close proximity of each other. The epic battle of “Dante’s Peak” vs. “Volcano.” The winner? Nobody.
Maybe Relativity and Universal should ease up on their aggressive scheduling.

Here’s some “Hunger Games” casting news: Rock star Lenny Kravitz will portray Cinna, the fashion stylist for Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) leading up to the 74th annual Hunger Games. Joining Kravitz in the cast will also be Toby Jones (“Frost/Nixon,” “Your Highness”), who, according to Deadline, will be a “host/narrator” alongside Stanley Tucci’s Caesar.
The Lionsgate film is set to open March 23, 2012.
Trailer of the day:
Here’s one to keep an eye on: “Another Earth,” directed by Mike Cahill, starring Brit Marling. I can’t remember the last time I was this excited for the first half of a trailer. It’s brilliant. Enjoy it, because tomorrow’s Trailer of the Day will be Jim Carrey’s “Mr. Popper’s Penguins.” You’ve been warned.
