The Hollywood Reporter has reported that “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” grossed an estimated $36 million to $37 million on its opening day, setting it on track to bring in about $93 million for the weekend domestically. Based on those numbers, the opening falls short of “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End,” the third installment in the series, which opened with $114.7 million in it first weekend.

THR says that overseas, however, “On Stranger Tides” has already grossed $44.2 million in two days in 37 territories, which is 10 percent ahead of “At World’s End.”

/Film is reporting that Tommy Lee Jones will star opposite Meryl Streep in Great Hope Springs. The two will play a married couple spending a week of marriage counseling with a famous therapist played by Steve Carrell. David Frankel (“The Devil Wears Prada”) is set to direct.
